Sensory discomfort during intimacy is the nervous system protecting you, not a lack of desire. You have the right to a sensory-aware sex life: knowing your own dials and being able to ask for them is how good sex becomes possible.

Is it okay to be single, asexual, or aromantic as an autistic woman?

Accepted Answer

Yes - completely. Autistic people are more likely to be LGBTQ+ and more likely to be asexual or aromantic, and those are whole, valid ways to be, not a stage to grow out of. Intimacy is a constellation, not a ladder: deep friendship, shared interests, being unmasked, touch on your terms, romance, sex, and recharging solitude are all valid shapes. The question is never 'am I doing intimacy the normal way?' but 'what closeness actually feeds me?'
